Already used ezHASiL? Your old login still works on MyTax — you don't need to re-register. Go to mytax.hasil.gov.my and log in with your IC and existing password. Skip to Step 6 below to check your TIN.

Step-by-Step: Register on MyTax

  1. Open the MyTax portal Go to mytax.hasil.gov.my — this is the official LHDN portal. Bookmark it. Do not use ezHASiL.hasil.gov.my — it now redirects to MyTax anyway, but use the direct URL to avoid confusion.
  2. Click "Daftar" (Register) On the login page, look for the "Daftar" or "Register" link below the login form. Select your identification type: MyKad if you're a Malaysian citizen or PR, or Pasport if you're a foreign national.
  3. Fill in your personal details Enter your 12-digit IC number (no dashes), full name exactly as shown on your IC, date of birth, mobile phone number (e.g., 0123456789), and email address. Double-check for typos — your mobile number must be correct for the OTP.
  4. Enter the OTP sent to your mobile LHDN will SMS a 6-digit One-Time Password (OTP) to the mobile number you entered. Enter it within 5 minutes. If you don't receive it, check that your number is correct and tap "Hantar Semula" (Resend).
  5. Set your password Create a password of at least 8 characters containing a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols. Do not use your IC number or date of birth as your password. Store it in a password manager — you'll need it every tax season.
  6. Note your Tax Identification Number (TIN) After successful registration, MyTax will display your TIN (Nombor Pengenalan Cukai). For salaried employees it starts with SG (e.g., SG 12345678901), for self-employed / business income it starts with OG. Screenshot or write this down — you'll need it on every LHDN form and letter.
  7. Log in and complete your profile Log in immediately with your IC number and new password. Go to MyProfile → Maklumat Bank and add your bank account number. This is where LHDN will credit any tax refund. Without it, you may receive a cheque (slower) or no refund at all.
Registration complete! You're now ready to file your income tax return. Go to e-Filing → Hantar Borang to begin your Form BE (salaried) or Form B (self-employed/mixed income).

Frequently Asked Questions

What is MyTax and how is it different from ezHASiL?
MyTax (mytax.hasil.gov.my) is the LHDN portal launched in 2021, replacing the old ezHASiL system. It has the same tax filing functions (e-Filing, Form BE/B) but with a refreshed interface. If you had an ezHASiL account, your credentials still work — just go to mytax.hasil.gov.my.
Do I need to register even if my employer already deducts PCB tax?
Yes. PCB (Potongan Cukai Berjadual) is only a monthly withholding estimate — it may not match your actual tax liability. You must file Form BE by April 30 to claim reliefs (EPF, lifestyle, insurance) that can reduce your tax or generate a refund. Filing is mandatory once your income exceeds RM34,000/year (after EPF deduction).
I got an error saying my IC is already registered — what do I do?
This means a MyTax account already exists. Try logging in with your IC and your last-known password. If you've forgotten it, use "Lupa Kata Laluan" on the login page. If your mobile number has changed, call LHDN at 03-8911 1000 for help.
I'm a foreigner working in Malaysia — can I register on MyTax?
Yes. Select "Pasport" as your identification type and enter your passport number. You'll get an OG-prefix TIN. Check with your HR first — many employers register foreign employees automatically when applying for employment passes.
My IC details on LHDN are wrong — how do I fix them?
Visit the nearest LHDN branch with your original MyKad and a photocopy. Request a "Kemaskini Data" (data update). Bring supporting documents (e.g., marriage certificate if your name changed). IC data corrections cannot be done online.
What is my TIN and where do I find it?
Your TIN (Tax Identification Number) is your unique LHDN ID — it starts with SG (salaried) or OG (self-employed). It's shown on screen right after you register, and is also visible in MyTax under MyProfile. It's also printed on any LHDN tax assessment letters you've received.
Why should I add my bank account in MyTax?
If you're entitled to a tax refund (bayaran balik), LHDN needs your bank account to credit you directly. Without it, they may issue a cheque (takes weeks) or the refund may be delayed. Add it under MyProfile → Maklumat Bank immediately after registering. Eligible banks include Maybank, CIMB, Public Bank, RHB, Hong Leong, and most local banks.
