App
i-Akaun (iOS/Android)
What is i-Akaun? i-Akaun is EPF's (KWSP) official member portal. It lets you check your balance, view contribution history, manage nominations, and apply for withdrawals — without visiting an EPF branch.
How to Register for EPF i-Akaun
-
Go to i.kwsp.gov.my or download the i-Akaun app
The portal and app are both official EPF platforms. The mobile app (i-Akaun) is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Search "i-Akaun" — the developer should be "Kumpulan Wang Simpanan Pekerja."
-
Click "Register" and enter your IC number
You'll be asked for your MyKad (IC) number and date of birth. Your username for i-Akaun is always your IC number.
-
Verify via OTP to your EPF-registered mobile number
EPF will send a one-time password (OTP) to the mobile number registered with EPF. If you have never updated your mobile number with EPF, or if the number has changed, you must visit an EPF branch first to update it before you can register online.
-
Set your password
Create a password that meets EPF's requirements (minimum 8 characters, mix of letters, numbers, and symbols). Do not share this password.
-
Log in and complete any additional verification
First-time logins may require you to confirm your email address or complete a security question setup. Once done, you have full access to your i-Akaun.
Mobile number not registered with EPF? You must visit any EPF branch with your MyKad to register or update your mobile number before you can use i-Akaun. You cannot register online if EPF has no mobile number on record for you.
What You Can Do in i-Akaun
Check Your Balance
Log in → Dashboard. You'll see your three account balances at a glance:
| Account | Purpose | Access |
| Akaun Persaraan (Akaun 1) | Retirement savings — 75% of contributions | At retirement age (55) |
| Akaun Sejahtera (Akaun 2) | Housing, education, health — 15% of contributions | Specific withdrawals |
| Akaun Fleksibel (Akaun 3) | Flexible cash — 10% of contributions | Anytime (min RM50) |
View Contribution History
Go to Contributions → Statement. You can view monthly contributions by your employer and yourself, check if contributions are being paid correctly, and download PDF statements for bank loan applications.
Update Personal Details
- Mobile number — update via i-Akaun or EPF branch
- Email address — update under Profile settings
- Bank account number — required for withdrawals; must be in your own name
- Address — update under Profile (does not update your MyKad address)
Manage Nominations
Go to Nomination → View/Update. Your EPF nomination determines who receives your savings if you die before retirement. This is separate from your will — EPF pays nominees directly, bypassing the estate distribution process. Update it after marriage, divorce, or having children.
Apply for Withdrawals
Available withdrawal types via i-Akaun:
- Akaun Fleksibel withdrawal — minimum RM50, once per month, credited within 1–3 working days
- Housing withdrawal (Akaun Sejahtera) — to purchase or build a home, reduce housing loan, or pay monthly instalments
- Education withdrawal (Akaun Sejahtera) — for approved tertiary institutions in Malaysia
- Medical withdrawal (Akaun Sejahtera) — for critical illness treatment for member or dependants
- Age 50 withdrawal — partial withdrawal allowed at age 50
- Age 55 withdrawal (full) — full retirement withdrawal at age 55
Checking Your EPF Contributions Are Correct
Every month, check that your employer is contributing correctly. Log in to i-Akaun → Contributions → Monthly Statement. The statutory contribution rates are:
| Employee Age | Employee Contribution | Employer Contribution |
| Below 60 years | 11% | 13% (salary ≤RM5,000) / 12% (>RM5,000) |
| Age 60–75 | 5.5% | 6.5% |
| Non-Malaysian employees | 11% | RM5 flat rate |
Employer not contributing? If your employer is missing or underpaying EPF contributions, you can file a complaint with EPF directly via i-Akaun (under Feedback/Complaint) or visit an EPF branch. EPF has enforcement powers to compel employers to pay.
Troubleshooting i-Akaun Problems
- Can't receive OTP — your mobile number registered with EPF may be different from your current number. Visit any EPF branch with your MyKad to update it.
- Account locked — too many wrong password attempts locks your account. Wait 24 hours or call EPF at 03-8922 6000 to unlock.
- Forgot password — use the Forgot Password link on i.kwsp.gov.my. OTP is sent to your registered mobile. If you've lost access to that number, visit an EPF branch.
- Contributions not showing — employer contributions are uploaded monthly. Allow up to 45 days after the contribution month before escalating.
- Wrong name or IC number in EPF records — visit an EPF branch with your MyKad and birth certificate to correct it. Cannot be done online.
Pro Tips
- Check your EPF statement every quarter — verify contributions are being paid and the amounts are correct. Errors discovered late are harder to recover.
- Update your nomination after every major life event — EPF nomination bypasses your will. After marriage or divorce, update immediately or your savings may go to the wrong person.
- Download your EPF statement for home loan applications — banks require 3–6 months of EPF statements as proof of income. i-Akaun generates these instantly as a PDF.
- Enable i-Akaun notifications — the app can send alerts when contributions are received. Useful for detecting missed employer contributions early.
- Don't withdraw Akaun Fleksibel unnecessarily — every withdrawal reduces your long-term retirement savings. EPF's dividend averages 5–6% per year. Think of it as a 5% guaranteed return you're forgoing every time you withdraw early.
