What is Touch 'n Go eWallet?
Touch 'n Go eWallet (dompet digital / e-dompet) is Malaysia's most widely used e-wallet, operated by TNG Digital — a joint venture between Touch 'n Go and Ant Group (the company behind Alipay). It is available on iOS and Android.
Unlike the physical Touch 'n Go card (used at toll plazas), the eWallet is a mobile app that lets you:
- Pay at merchants via DuitNow QR or TNG QR code
- Pay bills (TNB, Maxis, Celcom, Digi, Unifi, water bills, PTPTN, income tax)
- Send money to other TNG eWallet users or to bank accounts via DuitNow
- Reload your physical TNG card
- Top up mobile prepaid lines
- Make online purchases via the TNG VISA Virtual Card
- Access GoRewards, GOprotect insurance, and GOinvest (for verified users)
TNG eWallet and the TNG Card are separate things. Your TNG eWallet balance does not automatically work at toll plazas. You can use the eWallet app to reload your physical TNG card, but the card is a separate product. See the
TNG eWallet vs TNG RFID section for more.
How to Register
Registration is free and takes about 5 minutes. You need a Malaysian mobile number and your MyKad number.
-
Download the TNG eWallet app
Available on the App Store (iOS) and Google Play Store (Android). Search for "Touch 'n Go eWallet." Make sure you download the official app from TNG Digital Sdn Bhd — there are fake clones in circulation.
-
Tap "Register" and enter your mobile number
You will receive a 6-digit OTP via SMS. Enter it to verify your number.
-
Enter your full name and MyKad number (nombor kad pengenalan)
Your name must match your MyKad exactly. Use your IC number without dashes (e.g., 900101123456).
-
Set a 6-digit PIN
This PIN is used for every transaction. Do not use obvious combinations (e.g., 123456 or your birth year).
-
Set up your security phrase
A personal security phrase that you will recognise when TNG contacts you — helps verify that communications are genuine.
-
Account created — Basic Tier
Your account is now active with Basic Tier limits: RM200 wallet balance, RM500/month in transactions. To unlock higher limits, complete eKYC verification.
One account per IC number. If you previously registered but forgot your login, use the "Forgot PIN" or "Recover Account" option before creating a new account. Multiple accounts under the same IC are not permitted.
How to Top Up (Reload)
You can add money to your TNG eWallet through several methods:
Online Banking (FPX)
The fastest and most reliable method. No fee.
-
Tap "Top Up" on the TNG eWallet home screen
Then select "Online Banking."
-
Select your bank
Supported banks include Maybank, CIMB, RHB, Public Bank, Hong Leong, AmBank, Bank Islam, Bank Rakyat, BSN, and others.
-
Enter the amount and proceed
You will be redirected to your bank's FPX payment page. Approve the transaction via your bank app or TAC.
-
Balance updated instantly
The top-up reflects in your eWallet within seconds.
Debit or Credit Card
Supported for Visa and Mastercard debit/credit cards. Some banks may charge a cash advance fee on credit cards. Check with your bank before using a credit card.
Physical Touch 'n Go Card
You can transfer balance from your physical TNG card to your eWallet, or top up your physical card from the eWallet. Tap "Top Up" and select "TNG Card." You will need to tap the card against your phone's NFC reader.
Other eWallets or Cash
Cash top-ups are available at selected 7-Eleven stores, MyNews, and TNG reload points. Check the TNG eWallet app for the nearest reload point. A small fee (typically RM0.50–RM1) may apply.
Minimum top-up: RM10. Maximum single top-up depends on your KYC tier. Basic users: RM200 per transaction (limited by wallet balance cap). eKYC users: up to RM1,500 per transaction.
eKYC: How to Verify Your Identity
eKYC (electronic Know Your Customer) is an identity verification process that unlocks higher wallet limits and additional features. It takes about 5 minutes and is done entirely within the app.
What you need
- Your physical MyKad (not a photocopy)
- A well-lit environment (the app takes a live photo of your card)
- Your phone's camera must be functional
-
Tap the profile icon and select "Verify Now" or "eKYC"
It may also appear as a banner on your home screen. Go to Settings → My Account → eKYC Verification.
-
Scan the front of your MyKad
Hold your MyKad flat and in good light. The app uses OCR to extract your name and IC number. Ensure the card is not blurry or obscured.
-
Scan the back of your MyKad
Same process. Make sure the chip is visible and not covered.
-
Take a selfie
The app uses facial recognition to match your face against your MyKad photo. Follow the on-screen instructions (look straight ahead, blink, turn slightly).
-
Submit and wait for approval
Most eKYC verifications are approved instantly. In some cases it may take up to 1 business day if manual review is needed.
After eKYC: Your wallet limit increases to RM1,500, your monthly transaction limit increases to RM5,000, and you gain access to additional features including bill payments, DuitNow transfers to bank accounts, and GOprotect insurance products.
eKYC is required for most practical uses. Without eKYC, your RM200 wallet limit means you cannot store enough balance for larger purchases or bill payments. Complete eKYC before you actually need it.
Wallet Limits & Transaction Limits
TNG eWallet has three account tiers, each with different limits set by Bank Negara Malaysia's e-money regulations:
Basic Tier (No eKYC)
Wallet balance limit: RM200
Monthly transaction limit: RM500
Top-up limit: RM200/transaction
Required: Mobile number only. Suitable for small, occasional payments.
eKYC Verified (Intermediate Tier)
Wallet balance limit: RM1,500
Monthly transaction limit: RM5,000
Top-up limit: RM1,500/transaction
Required: MyKad scan + selfie (eKYC). Suitable for regular bill payments, transfers, and merchant payments.
Full KYC (Enhanced / Premium Tier)
Wallet balance limit: RM9,950
Monthly transaction limit: RM9,500+
Top-up limit: RM9,950/transaction
Required: Additional identity documents. Access to GOinvest, higher remittance limits, and corporate features.
Note on limits: BNM regulations cap all e-money wallets in Malaysia at RM9,950 regardless of KYC level. These limits may be updated by BNM — always verify current limits in the TNG eWallet app under Settings → My Account.
How to Pay with TNG eWallet
Paying at Merchants (QR Code)
Most Malaysian merchants accepting TNG eWallet display a DuitNow QR code or a TNG-specific QR code.
-
Tap "Pay" on the TNG eWallet home screen
This opens the QR scanner.
-
Scan the merchant's QR code
Point your camera at the QR code displayed at the counter or on the sticker.
-
Enter the amount (if not pre-filled) and confirm
Some merchants have fixed-amount QR codes. Others require you to enter the amount. Review the merchant name before confirming.
-
Enter your 6-digit PIN to approve
Payment is deducted from your eWallet balance immediately.
Showing Your QR Code to be Scanned
Some merchants will scan your QR code instead. Tap "Receive" and show your QR code to the cashier.
Online Payments (TNG VISA Virtual Card)
For online purchases where TNG eWallet is not directly accepted, you can use the TNG VISA Virtual Card — a virtual Visa debit card linked to your eWallet balance. Available to eKYC-verified users. Find it under "My Cards" in the app.
Toll & Parking
TNG eWallet works at selected SMART Tunnel toll points and many parking facilities that support DuitNow QR or TNG QR. For highway toll lanes, the physical TNG card or TNG RFID is still required — the eWallet alone does not work at most toll plazas.
Sending Money to Others
Transfer to Another TNG eWallet User
Free, instant. The recipient must have a TNG eWallet account.
-
Tap "Transfer" on the home screen
Select "TNG eWallet."
-
Enter the recipient's mobile number
Their name will appear for confirmation if they have an account.
-
Enter the amount and confirm with your PIN
Transfer is immediate.
Transfer to Bank Account (DuitNow)
Available to eKYC-verified users. You can transfer from your TNG eWallet to any Malaysian bank account using DuitNow. Select "Bank Transfer" or "DuitNow" under the Transfer section. Standard DuitNow fees may apply for some banks (typically free or RM0.10–RM0.50).
International Remittance (GOremit)
TNG eWallet supports international money transfers via GOremit to select countries. Available under the "More" section. eKYC verification required. Exchange rates and fees vary by destination country.

Tap "Bills" or "Pay Bills" on the TNG eWallet home screen. eKYC verification is required for bill payments. You can pay:

TNG eWallet vs TNG RFID: What's the Difference?
Many Malaysians confuse these two products. They are separate:

Can I link TNG RFID to my eWallet? Yes. When you register TNG RFID, you can choose to link it to your TNG eWallet balance instead of a physical card. This means toll deductions come directly from your eWallet. Go to the TNG eWallet app → "My Cards" → "TNG RFID" to link and manage.
Lost Phone or Compromised Account
If you lose your phone or suspect your account has been accessed without authorisation:
Immediate steps
- Freeze your account immediately — call TNG eWallet customer service: 1-300-888-863 (available 24 hours). They can freeze your account without you needing the physical phone.
- Log in from another device — install TNG eWallet on a trusted device and log in with your registered mobile number. An OTP will be sent to your SIM (request your telco to block the lost SIM first if the phone is stolen).
- Change your PIN immediately after logging in on a new device.
- Report to PDRM if stolen — file a police report. TNG may require this if you need to dispute unauthorised transactions.
- Check your transaction history for any unauthorised payments and report them to TNG customer service.
Act fast. Anyone with access to your unlocked phone can make payments without your PIN if biometrics (fingerprint/Face ID) are enabled and your phone is not locked. Enable a strong phone lock screen as your first line of defence.
Pro Tips
Complete eKYC before you need it
eKYC occasionally has backlog during peak periods and may take up to 1 business day. Complete it when you first register, not when you are standing at a cashier trying to pay a RM300 bill.
Enable GoRewards to collect points
GoRewards is TNG's loyalty programme. Every transaction earns points redeemable for cashback or vouchers. Enable it under the "Rewards" tab. There is no cost — it simply tracks your spending automatically.
Use the TNG VISA Virtual Card for online purchases
For e-commerce sites that do not accept TNG eWallet directly, your TNG VISA Virtual Card works anywhere Visa is accepted online. It draws from your eWallet balance and has the same fraud protections as a regular Visa card. No need to expose your bank debit card to new merchants.
Pay LHDN income tax directly via TNG
You can pay income tax (cukai pendapatan) directly through the TNG eWallet "Bills" section, selecting LHDN as the biller. This avoids the need to log in to MyTax or visit a bank. Your IC number is the reference number for LHDN payments.
Set a transaction PIN, not biometrics only
If you enable fingerprint or Face ID for payments, anyone who can unlock your phone can pay with your eWallet. Consider requiring PIN entry for larger transactions (above RM100) in the app's security settings.
Check the reload promotions tab
TNG eWallet regularly runs cashback promotions on top-ups, specific merchants, and categories (food delivery, petrol, groceries). Check the "Promotions" section in the app before a large payment — a 5–10% cashback promotion on an upcoming renewal can save real money.
Frequently Asked Questions
My eKYC keeps failing. What should I do?
Common causes: poor lighting when scanning the MyKad, camera glare on the card surface, or face not matching the MyKad photo (e.g., wearing sunglasses, heavy makeup, or hat during the selfie). Try again in bright natural light with your face clearly visible. If it fails after several attempts, contact TNG customer service at 1-300-888-863 — they can assist with manual verification.
Can I have more than one TNG eWallet account?
No. TNG eWallet only allows one account per IC number. If you have forgotten your login, use the "Recover Account" feature with your mobile number, or contact customer service. Attempting to create a second account with the same IC may result in account suspension.
Can I withdraw money from TNG eWallet to my bank account?
Yes, for eKYC-verified users. Go to "Transfer" → "Bank Transfer" or "Withdraw to Bank." Standard DuitNow processing times apply (instant for most banks). A small fee may apply. Note: this is a withdrawal, not a reversal — the money is treated as a new DuitNow transfer.
My payment went through but the merchant says they did not receive it. What do I do?
First, check your TNG eWallet transaction history (Home → Transaction History) to confirm the payment was deducted. If the transaction shows as "successful" but the merchant disputes it, contact TNG customer service with the transaction ID, date, time, and amount. TNG can investigate and initiate a reversal if the merchant's account did not receive the funds. Response time is typically 3–5 business days.
Does TNG eWallet expire or go inactive?
Your TNG eWallet account does not expire as long as it is used at least once every 2 years. However, if your account is inactive for 2 years, TNG may place it in dormant status. To reactivate, contact customer service. Any remaining balance is preserved and accessible after reactivation.
Is my money in TNG eWallet protected?
TNG eWallet is a Bank Negara Malaysia-licensed e-money issuer. Under BNM regulations, e-money issuers must safeguard customer funds by holding them in a trust account or equivalent. Your balance is not covered by PIDM (deposit insurance) like a bank deposit, but it is held separately from TNG Digital's operational funds. For very large sums, a bank account remains the more secure option.
Can foreigners in Malaysia use TNG eWallet?
Yes, with limitations. Non-Malaysians can register with a foreign passport or MyPR/Work Permit. Full eKYC options vary by document type. Transaction limits for non-citizen accounts may be lower than for Malaysian IC holders. Contact TNG customer service if you encounter issues with your document type during eKYC.
