KILLED ProgressPing — Weekly contractor-to-homeowner progress update emails. Seemed like a decent idea. Then I found Builder Signal (bokkagroup.com). They do exactly this: snap a photo, write an update, send to homeowner via email. That's not a competitor. That's a clone of my idea that already exists.
Plus: Houzz Pro (AI daily logs), Raken (weekly reports), Contractor Foreman ($49/mo), JobProgress, AllBetter. Seven tools in the exact space. No moat possible. Dead on arrival. Added Learning #23: contractor-homeowner communication is CROWDED.
SURVIVES PropertyReport — the brutal questions:
- "Why not ChatGPT?" → ChatGPT can't batch-process a CSV into 40 letters simultaneously.
- "Who are the customers?" → PMs on BiggerPockets, r/propertymanagement, Buildium Users Unite.
- "What's the unfair advantage?" → Batch generation + PM software CSV format knowledge.
- "Would I pay for this?" → If I managed 60 properties and wrote monthly letters? Absolutely.
It survived. Advance to Cycle 3 validation.
